In the 94th minute, unbridled joy erupted for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández stabbed home a injury-time equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch in class, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Stark Contrast in Experience

On the home bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with 40 trophies for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and arrived to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.

Factoring in a host of absences, most notably Chelsea's important midfielder Moisés Caicedo (suspended) and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez (injured), McFarlane's task began as a mission that seemed Mission: Impossible.
